You’ve seen photos of Bruce’s hand-finished, custom hammers for P-Series SIG pistols. Customers who sent in their guns for in-house builds could order one of the hundreds made of the original design. Grayguns is now thrilled to add these premium hammers to our list of upgrade components for the SIG Classic DA/SA series of pistols.
A rowel hammer (a.k.a. ring hammer) has been incorporated into the design to complement a Modern Classic theme.

Our DA/SA SIG pistols upgrade action components are appropriate for duty use unless you install one of our competition sears from our SRT kit. (The competition cut sears are no longer available.)
This hammer is incompatible with the P239, Browning BDA P220 or P-Series pistols with SAO or DAK triggers.

Another great part to modernize my old 229. 10/10
I was able to buy 2, I should have purchase more, but the hammers are pricey; I shall come back next time when discounts are available again. It took a little longer than expected, but finally the hammers are here. The disassembly, installation and re-assembly took me less than 30 minutes. Perfect fit, my P220 SAS looks pretty awesome. Too bad I can’t upload a picture.
This is a revision to an earlier review I left for this product back on June 30, 2025.
This SS P-Series Modern Classic Commander Hammer appeared to function flawlessly for me at home, during snap-cap dry-firing, and later at the range. However, afterwards, upon attempting to field strip my P226 MK25 for cleaning, I found that I can no longer remove, or re-install, the slide without first de-cocking my pistol. This is a new development. There was nothing in this product’s literature about changing this operational aspect of SS P-Series pistols on the GGI website prior to my ordering this product.
I swapped out this new hammer for my old SS factory OEM stock DA/SA hammer, and sure enough, I can remove and re-install the slide without having to first de-cock the pistol. The same goes for my all-factory OEM stock SS P229R-E2 DA/SA 9mm Luger pistol.
I spoke with Chris at GGI earlier today regarding this problem – he advised me to send my P226 MK25 pistol in to GGI for them to examine and correct the functionality issue(s), at no cost to me.
This issue is pending resolution.

Our drop-in parts do fit the vast majority of guns, but due to varying tolerances present in all mass-produced firearms, professional fitting occasionally is necessary.
