Description
Bruce Gray designed our custom P-Series Fat Custom Strut System to help bring another Grayguns custom gunsmithing service to the drop-in parts market.
For more than 40 years, Bruce has been modifying factory struts to eliminate the typical double-action crunch caused by the sharp edges and tip of the strut.
The custom strut system fully supports the main spring, reducing friction, spring bowing, and fatigue. The struts are cut using a precision EDM process, hand-finished, and heat-treated to the proper hardness.
A durable seat that is machined in-house is paired with the upgraded strut. It is made of aircraft-grade aluminum and anodized. These struts are indestructible and guaranteed for life.
This complete system also includes our custom P-Series Master Spring Set to help reduce your pull weight for full tuning options. The kit contains a 17-pound spring (red) and a 19-pound spring (blue).

This is one of my first upgrades to my new p229. Very easy to install and eliminates the “crunch”. These parts are expertly made and make a big difference to overall performance and function.
Works fine. Easy to install. Adds weight. Slick.
This is the first mod I’ve done to my p220. It ready does smooth out the trigger pull quite a bit. With the 17# spring it’s a big improvement over stock. The SRT kit is next.
Installing the custom strut made an amazing difference to my P220. I got a DA pull of 5lb 8oz. It also enhanced the short reset that was previously installed. Thanks for the excellent parts.
Like many others have said really removes all the “crunch”, its very noticable in DA and even in SA you can feel a slight difference with a smoother break. Very high quality parts with incredibly smooth finish and the redesigned strut completely removes the spring bowing issue. Would absolutely buy again for any P22x series gun.
My p220 and p226 had a slight felt crunch when hitting the trigger wall. I installed this strut and it removed all the crunch !
Definetly an improvement over stock. Combined with the srt, and trigger I can definetly feel a smoother trigger pull.
Recently purchased and installed GrayGuns 1) Short Reset Trigger Kit, 2) Custom Strut System, 3) Modern Classic Hammer, and 4) Dual Adjustable Curved Trigger on my P220 DASA Sig Legion. Bench testing on five group averages showed the DA went from 9lb-1.6oz to 8lb-1.5oz — the SA went from 4lb 8.2oz to 2lb-5.8oz. Actual shooting results were unbelievable. The P220 now feels like a totally new machine. I think it will far outshoot any of the 45s I currently own, and (ignoring magazine capacity issues) is probably going to be my favorite 45 to shoot ……. This includes an FNX, FN545, P220 SAO, and several 1911s. In my eyes, whoever designed and built these changes are currently on a pedestal up in the clouds next to the big guy himself (JMB).
Beautiful finish, easy drop-in installation with instructions, and the kit comes with two springs for the user to try. This is a very popular upgrade for the P-series of Sigs and this is likely the best option on the market!
I bought this and the Enhanced Leverage System and my legion is about as good as it can get. Smooth consistent double action all the way through. Worthwhile upgrade for anyone who loves their Sigs.
I put this on an early 90s P228. The original double action trigger pull was horrific. I went with the heavier, blue, 19lb spring (that is just the weight rating for the spring, not the trigger pull you will get). With that spring, the trigger pull is only slightly lighter than factory, but much smoother. Just be sure to put a couple drops of oil on the spring after you install it. Before oiling, mine had a very low key fingernails on a chalkboard quality. I gave it some oil, cycled the hammer a few times and it was perfectly smooth.
After putting the ELS into my SIG P226 (love that gun), the Custom Strut System was the next logical step to smooth out the trigger action. It did just that. The 17-pound spring made the double action pull lighter, smooth, and consistent start to finish, and made the trigger break crisp and precise. Single action is push-button effortless. 3-3.5 lbs., I estimate. Installation was pretty manageable, though it would have been simpler if I had not pushed the sear pin all the way through when changing the sear spring (it was looser than I expected). Easy enough to fix, though.
This is fun stuff making good things better. Grayguns makes great stuff. Thanks, Mr. Gray & Co.
