FAQs

Q: Why should I have my work performed by Grayguns Inc.?
A: We’ve been told that we’re very good at what we do, but we’re very open to new ideas and critiques that have helped us grow into one of the busiest custom shops in the nation. Our well-known commitment to high grade work, personal customer service and ethical business practices reflects our core beliefs. We’ll never charge you for anything you don’t need, and we’ve offered a lifetime guarantee on our work for 30 years.

Q: How do I ship my firearm to Grayguns Inc.?
A: Click here for instructions.

Q: Do you have any other suggestions about shipping firearms?
A: Yes, we do.

  1. Check with your friendly local FFL dealer to see if they will ship your firearm to us by US Postal Mail. This may save you money as compared to shipping UPS next day air.
  2. If you do ship via UPS next day air, we would appreciate it if you included a UPS pre-paid return labels with your firearm and work order.

Q: What about FedEx?
A: The service provided by FedEx to our Spray, Oregon facility is very slow. FedEx “overnight” packages routinely take three to four days to arrive.

Q: Why don’t you list your phone number on your Web site?
A: We do. Our phone number is (541) 468-3840, and our fax number is (541) 468-3844.

Q: I’m not quite sure what I need for my intended application, and I don’t see what I want listed on your Web site.
A: To get started, please contact us with your ideas and requests. We’ll respond with our recommendations and a quote based upon your requirements and needs. Grayguns Inc. is a full-service custom pistolsmithing, parts and training firm, and we offer a far wider repertoire of services and modifications than we can list here.

Q: How do I order work on my pistol?
A: For SIG Sauer and Heckler and Koch pistols, follow the shipping instructions. We will call to confirm the work order when we begin working on the pistol. Once we’ve helped you sort out what you’d like us to do for you, we’ll put you on our list with an appointment date to ship your pistol.

Q: How long will my work take?
A: Grayguns is now open to accept new work pistols as outlined on the SIG Sauer and Heckler and Koch pages. Current turnaround time is approximately four weeks on SIG Sauer Pistols and five to six weeks on Heckler and Koch pistols.

Q: Can I make a reservation to have my pistol worked on?
A: Yes. Many prefer this method to reduce the time your pistol is out of your hands. We are only able to hold a specific number of requests on our Job Slot Waiting List.

Q: I would like to make a change to my order, how can I do this?
A: To avoid honest errors through miscommunication, all changes and additions to your work order must be made in writing via e-mail or FAX. We suggest you send the request in, then call us to confirm the change order.

Q: What if I need my pistol back in a hurry?
A: We expedite law enforcement and military duty weapons. Other requests for rush service will be accepted as our ability to find extra time permits. A modest 20 percent rush surcharge is requested to cover our lost sleep.

Q: The price I was quoted is different from your price list. Why?
A: Flat-rate pricing can be arbitrary, causing some customers to pay too much. Our published prices are subject to individual quotations that take your pistol’s condition and your specific requests into account. We rarely ask for more than our published pricing, and we quote each job individually. Grayguns Inc. will never bill you for more than you were quoted!

Q: How do I pay for my work?
A: We do not require deposits or prepayment for action work. If you request services that require parts or work from one of our vendors (ie. sights, parts replacement, or certain outside refinishing) we will ask for a deposit to cover those specific charges and collect the remainder of the bill when your gun is ready to ship. We will e-mail a copy of the invoice or call for payment when the gun is nearly finished and ready to ship. We accept money orders, personal checks, and credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, Discover, American Express).

Q: What if something goes wrong with my pistol after you worked on it?
A: We believe God made but one perfect man, but we do make every effort to do the finest work possible. If something directly related to our work fails or malfunctions at any time, we will assess and correct it for the cost of shipping it to us.
