Description

The custom-designed Grayguns Short Reset Trigger (SRT) Kit incorporates a custom safety lever that provides a smooth, short action reset in a drop-in kit.

The kit reduces the trigger reset travel by about 70 percent* when using one of our dual adjustable triggers (Straight or Curved). The system allows for faster reset times and is easy to install, requiring no gunsmithing.

The unique part of this kit is the Bruce Gray designed custom sear. The kit features a sear made from bar-stock steel. Each sear is classically machined, painstakingly cut and inspected. The sear is hand-finished for the best engagement angle and release with the factory hammer.

The part is heat treated and stoned to provide a very smooth surface. We follow up with a baked-in nickel PTFE coating for a smooth release and outstanding durability.

User feedback indicates many shooters find their follow-up shots are quicker and more accurate with the Grayguns SRT installed in their SIG DA/SA pistols. (See our Fit Guide below.)

Short Reset Kit Components

  • Bruce Gray designed bar-stock custom sear
  • Grayguns safety lever
  • Two 19-pound mainsprings*

Grayguns Short Reset Trigger Fit Guide

The Grayguns SRT fits modern SIG Sauer P-Series DA/SA pistols, including:

  • P220
  • P228
  • P229
  • P226
  • P226 X-Five Allround
  • P227

* The reset amount will vary depending on the starting point of the trigger. The 70 percent reduction is a comparison to the stock, non-SRT factory configurations and measured with one of our dual adjustable triggers installed. We provide 19-pound mainsprings in this kit as they are appropriate for self-defense applications.

The second mainspring is a value-add, as we suggest replacing these springs at about 5,000 rounds.

Installed this after putting in the ELS and their hammer strut. Could not be any more in love with he overall change to my p226. It used to be my favorite pistol but a bit of a safe queen now I’m concerned I’ll never shoot my other pistols again. Excellent customer service to go along with a great product

Everyone thinks of amorycraft when it comes to p226 modifications. I read too many good things about grayguns online and decided to try them myself. I ordered their srt for the p226 and holy crap. The quality is amazing, and the FEEL is like a brand new gun. 10/10 highly recommend grayguns for all of your sig needs.

Adam, we’re happy to hear the sear worked for your P220 SAO. It’s important to note the sear might work in some SAO guns. There are too many variables, and this sear is designed specifically for DA/SA pistols. We’ve found they seem to work in new production Legion SAO pistols, but we will not be adding SAO pistols to our Fit Guide for this product at this time. Buyers should read our Return Policy if you intend on purchasing this product for your SAO pistol.

What I have come to expect from Grayguns

    Michael (verified owner)

I installed these kits in several pistols; they’re best served with the ELS trigger and the grayguns hammer strut, but serve functionally to reduce reset without, if desired. I installed these initially in a P-229 and a P220. The P229 showed clear improvement in the reset and function, with a smoother, crisper trigger and less grit. The P220 did the same, but could not be decocked. Mine is a 1998 era P220, and required purchase of the Sig Sauer part LEVER-11, which is the updated decocker lever, to work with the short reset kit. The difference is in the decocker lever; the updated decocke is necessary for the internal arm to trip the sear and release the hammer. With the updated decocker, it works just fine.

In my opinion, if one is going to install this kit, it should be installed along with a fat guide rod, the ELS enhanced trigger system, and the hammer strut; it’s like having a completely different pistol and goes from gritty ho-hum to smooth, light, short double action and single action trigger work, and a comfortable, easy to manipulate trigger. Aesthetically, it works well, too. The combination is going in all my classic 22X pistols, including the Legions; the Grayguns parts are superior to what comes in the Legions. That said, one can have a stock basic nitron P229 and put in the grayguns parts, and have a better, smoother, superior pistol to what comes in the legion. A no-brainer. Having used the Grayguns parts, I don’t believe I’d own another P-22X pistol without upgrading it to these parts.

SIG SRT kit is awesome, I fitted it along with the SIG ELS system and Strut for P226. These three items go together they transformed my P226. What a difference they make to an already great pistol, the fit, and finish is second to none!
I highly recommend. these items. The sear is machined to perfection, I had zero after pull on my trigger with fitted the ELS system..

    Better than OEM SRT

    John Loesel (verified owner)

Replaced an OEM SIG SRT. The single action break feels even crisper, and the reset feels even shorter. The part is also machined perfectly and more stout than the SIG one. So it gives me piece of mind. My newish mk25 would not go back together with the extended safety lever, saw a forum post from Bruce saying on newer guns you might not need the extended one and can use the stock SIG lever instead. Works perfect, although they should add that to the description to avoid confusion. I will keep the lever if my gun ever gets that much wear on it to where I need it.

    Great parts, safety lever issue

    John Garcia (verified owner)

2nd SRT kit I’ve purchased. All good except the safety lever which protruded above the frame, not allowing slide to be reinstalled. Put old and new safety lever on the sear pin and compared. GG lever was slightly taller. Had to file it down to make it work. GG responded back and said part is no longer under warranty. Slight modification (filing) had to be done to make it work.

A "Must have" for SIG Classic P-series pistols

    liwanag3 (verified owner)

Gray’s short reset sear kit is a major improvement over the standard sear, legacy strut, and long mainspring. The factory SIG short reset kit gave me a “mushy” single-action trigger break.

Gray’s kit with blue spring gives a lighter, smoother double-action take-up and a perfect single-action break when paired with the SIG E2 grip kit in P226 and 228 pistols.

I’m beyond amazed at the difference all 3 of these GGI products made. I kept testing over and over to keep consistent trigger pull weights.

    Before

    After Upgrades
    DA- 6lb 14.2oz
    SA- 2lb 15.3oz

    Truly amazing and great product.

Also would like to add Chris Sweeten was amazing when I had received the wrong ELS bar because I was told my P226 was a DAK frame, but in reality never was. He made my experience that much better. Thanks Chris for shipping out the new bar as fast as you did!

Grayguns SRT Kit/P Series Strut Replacement

    wcaruthers (verified owner)

I purchased these components to add to the ELS trigger I had previously installed on my older (mid 80s) P226. Now I regret I didn’t install them all together. The improvement in DA trigger pull and reset is remarkable and has definitely improved my first round accuracy.

The install was a breeze but the original grips required a very slight amount of Dremel work for clearance on the strut.

There are some excellent YouTube videos some done by Keith at Grayguns that are worth reviewing.prior to component install.

Thanks again to the Grayguns team for top quality components that make Sigs all that they can be!

Installed this alongside the ELS and Fat strut! Talk about having a smooth, crispy, and consistent operator. Would absolutely recommend to any P226 owner. Installation is quick, just make sure to remove a bit of material from the rear of the safety lever so your slide disassembly is as smooth and fast as the resets you’ll have using this!

    John Morgan

    Best quality SRT period!

    John Morgan (verified owner)

Yes, it costs a bit more than factory SIG parts, but the machined tool steel sear makes this! I measured the factory’s MIM part and found that sear to be as much as 0.002″ out of parallel. That happens as the “green” part is molded oversize so when the binder is cooked out it shrinks, and variations occur. Not with GG’s machined part. It’s perfection. I’ve used this kit in a couple of guns, the last being a SIG P229 Sport in .40 (pictured). These guns are not just “assembled” the parts are fitted and internals are smoothed to reduce friction at critical points. So the stock trigger was quite good. This kit made it a lot better!

When installed, the slide would not go back onto the gun due to tolerances on the safety lever. The lever’s upper tip would not drop down far enough. There are two ways to fix this, remove material from the top (which reduces safety plunger lift) or increase clearance on the back side of the lower arm where it stops against the hammer pivot pin – this allows the top of the safety lever to drop down a bit further, but does not take away from plunger lift, and is the preferred fix. You’ll need to remove maybe 1/16″ of so, then fit.

    Great Engagement & Short Reset

    willardjames52 (verified owner)

Great, now there is a choice between Duty Rated, and Competition, for the degree of Sear engagement, and of course the slicker Safety Lever, to help with wear from older weapons. Gives a crisp release, and quick reset of your Hammer, a quality product.

Installed in an older P226 frame which had been DAO, upgraded to DA/SA, including the GGI Dual Adjustable Curved Trigger, and added a Mk25 Slide assembly

Edit for previous reviewers. the “updated” P220 Safety Lever, aka “Lever-11” can be also used on the P6/P225 besides the older P220/P245s for sooner decocking action.

Grayguns SRT Kits in (Older) Sig 220,226,228, and 229

    David Heminger (verified owner)

The Kits were received quickly and were as advertised. The quality of the parts was extremely good. No problems were encountered installing the parts in the Sig 220, 226,228, and 229. All of these Sigs were older pistols. The 220, 228, and 229 were German made produced between 1988 and 1995, and the 229 was a German frame with a US produced slide. The hammer springs on all of these firearms were the older long springs with the spring captive on the struts, so the Grayguns spring could not be used. I had the long replacement springs and these had already been changed.
The only issue was with the de-cocking lever on the 220. I had seen videos on installation of the Sig SRT kit and noted that the 220 kit (only) shipped with a new de-cocking lever. I had a Sig 220 kit on backorder. The 220 would not de-cock with the standard lever and the Grayguns parts. When I finally received the Sig kit and installed the new de-cocking lever the problem was fixed. Now everything works well. The lever that goes into the frame and presses up on the sear is maybe 0.030 higher.
Watch out on the older Sig 220 pistols with original de-cocking levers. I have not seen the new 220 de-cocking levers for sale separately outside of the Sig kits.

    Upgrade on old 229 DA/SA

    frostadams (verified owner)

I purchased an older 229 DA/SA for IDPA and was enjoying shooting it, but had shot a friend’s SRT and wanted the upgrade. I also purchase the flat trigger as I have that on my 320 and really enjoy it. Install was straightforward, probably should have bought the Grayguns video, but stumble through it and the SA SRT is amazing now.

The flat trigger is great but I really wish they sent the SRT kit out with a regular power spring and a reduced spring so I could try both. The DA is still heavy and the original rounded SIG trigger probably is an easier pull, but once you are in SA it’s amazing.

Also upgraded the old SIG sights with Dawson sights, can’t wait for next IDPA match.

As always, superb quality of materials with these components. I put this kit in my P6. It does in fact fit, but I did run into a few hiccups. For whatever reason, the pin would not fit through the safety lever. Keep in mind, this is a P6 from ~1978, so YMMV and my gun might be an oddball. I ended up using a safety lever from a factory SRT kit (PKIT-SRT-226-227-229), but of course using the Grayguns sear which is far better quality of materials. Along with this, I upgraded to the short reach hammer strut (HAMMER-STRUT-8) and short, polymer mainspring seat (MAINSPRING-SEAT-2) which allowed for the GG main spring to fit. Overall, a massive difference over the factory P6 ridiculously heavy DA pull. Reset is fantastic. SA pull is superb. If you buy SIGs, I’m guessing you appreciate the finer things in life. Do yourself a favor and go with a GG SRT kit. Your SIGs deserve it!
