Grayguns fat Super Black Guide Rods are available for the P320, P228, P229, P220 and P226. They are manufactured with proper materials, hardened and stress-relieved to withstand a lifetime of hard use. The guide rods are guaranteed for life.
Only our P320-F (Full-Size)Â guide rod and P320 X-Five (Full Size)Â include a 15-pound 1911 recoil spring.
Our guide rods for the SIG P220, P226, P229 and P228 work with wire braided and OEM SIG Sauer flat springs. They will not work with aftermarket flat springs.

Being made to the maximum nominal diameter to fit each pistol perfectly, our fat rods also eliminate the possibility of coil-jumping and damage when used with correctly-selected after-market single-strand recoil springs.

Super Black Guide Rod Fit Guide
Ensure you select the correct variation and read these Fit Guide notes.
- The SIG P320 X-Five version will not work with the P320 XTEN 10mm pistol.
- The SIG P220 barrel length is 4.4″ – as such, these P220 guide rods will not fit the P220 Compact, P220 Carry or P220 Classic 22.
- If you have a SIG P320 XFull size module, you’ll need the Full Size (4.7″) guide rod.
- These will not work with the P320 Spectre Comp, which uses a captured guide rod recoil assembly from the 3.9″ pistols.
Suggested Companion Upgrades or Options
- Our hard-duty recoil spring for the P220 (.45) and the .40 and .357 versions of the P226
- We do have this guide rod available with a classic Stainless Steel finish

Ok, ready for this? The Walther ppq45 is terribly under sprung. Thie Greyguns fat guide rod for the Sig p220, Sig p220 factory recoil spring, and Sprinco Walther ppq slide bushing is the solution. Full power and +p loads are no longer beating the gun to death. You may need extra power mag springs with +p loads due to the increased slide velocity going back into battery.
I wasn’tsure how much the custom fat super black guide rod would change the feel of my W. Gernan P226? But, it was very noticeable as soon as i dropped it in my gun. Smoothed out the recoil dramatically.
Arrived promptly, fit well/no issues in a 1994 W. German mfg. P220 with original recoil spring, (extremely low round count firearm).

Great communication, fast shipping everything I expect. My problem is I need to learn to read it don’t fit my P220 legion and it says it in the description lol. Not worth it to me to mess with sending it back and I have an Sig it will work on. Got too give them the opportunity to fix my screw up so I can’t complain.
Great product and made my P226 hummmm like sewing machine, I also added the Pink Spring for a little extra power (Because I have upgraded all Springs on my P226) and that combo of Fat Guide Rod and Pink Spring were nothing short of spectacular!
Easy install, even though it’s not a captured spring. That actually makes it very easy to clean the guide rod if it gets dirty. It runs smoother than the stock RSA, and the ability to swap out springs to tune the recoil is great. During takedown, a light push upward and backward on the front end of the guide rod allows the TDL to rotate much easier than just trying to force it. Great guide rod.
Fit perfectly and looks great sitting flush with the front of the slide. I have also noticed the slide rests evenly centered on the frame, something that it didn’t do with the OEM spring. Hoping to shoot it soon and see if I improve my accuracy and the guns feel… I kinda feel like that is highly likely with as awesome as it is just doing dry-firing.
