February 20, 2010 by Bruce Gray · 1 Comment
Grayguns has confirmed dates for our third annual trip to western Massachusetts in May. We’re calling this one the Great Grayguns Extravaganza since we’re offering our most popular training program with some very unique additional opportunities.
Well be at the Deerfield Education and Conservation Corporation’s range in Deerfield, Mass. again this year on May 21, 22 and 23. Shooters will have the opportunity to take a one day Practical Fundamentals program on Friday, with additional training opportunities – still to be announced – and some experience programs on Saturday and Sunday.
For the weekend, we’ll have four instructors on staff. Bruce Gray, Jerry Jones, Randy Lee and Scott Conti will be working with students throughout the long weekend.
The cost for training during The Extravaganza will be $200 per day, plus range fees of $10 to $15 per day.
We’ll post additional information concerning ammunition required for the program once details have been more formalized, but we have general guidelines concerning what to bring for pistol training and what to bring for shotgun training online now, just click the links
Details about the schedule and training opportunities on Saturday and Sunday are forthcoming, but here’s a listing of the planned experience programs.
Join the discussion about this weekend of training over at SigForum, where you can ask questions and discuss the upcoming weekend.
Practical Fundamentals
Focuses on safe gun handling skills and practical marksmanship. Exposes participants to the fundamentals of a strong firing stance, the proper way to grip and correct alignment of the sights on a semi-automatic pistol. Provides instruction to safely draw a semi-automatic pistol from a holster and manipulate the trigger to make accurate and fast hits on a target. Provides instruction on reloading a semi-automatic pistol as well as transitioning between targets and firing a pistol while moving across the range. Bang ‘n Clang – Bruce Gray & Randy Lee
Nothing beats shooting on steel. It requires a high level of fundamental skills for success on the line, which is why top competitive marksmen and tactical instructors use reactive steel targets in their training programs. No method of instruction reinforces the basics faster than reactive steel targets.
GT Targets will be bringing some of their best “toys” for us to play with!

Defensive Pistol Test Your Carry/Duty Round – Jerry Jones & Scott Conti

We will have six blocks of ballistic gelatin (enough for approximately 50 test shots), made to FBI protocol specifications, laminated auto glass, drywall, and heavy cloth barriers and the Winchester Ballistic Testing Trailer – courtesy of Jurek Brothers Inc.
We will limit the tests to handgun calibers and a few .223 carbine rounds. Because this will be limited to the capacity of the gelatin – This will be limited to two shots per student. Limited capacity, so priority is based on deposit/payment order.
